Accessibility policy
PAN, Inc. is committed to ensuring that NetAssess International is as easy to use as possible for users of assistive technologies.
The NetAssess International team has designed NetAssess International using the See It Right checkpoints and accessibility checklist outlined on the RNIB website (http://www.rnib.org.uk/professionals/accessibleinformation/Pages/see_it_right.aspx), with particular emphasis on the following aspects:
- Tests for resizing text
- Tests for colour contrast
- Ease-of-use tests
It is our intention that the NetAssess International system will achieve See It Right compliance.
Increasing font sizes on NetAssess International
The majority of font sizes on NetAssess International can be increased or decreased using the standard accessibility functionality built in to the most popular browsers. NetAssess International does not provide any specific additional functionality.
For Internet Explorer users:
- Select "View" from the menu bar
- Select "Text Size"
- Select your preferred size
Using a keyboard on NetAssess International
We have endeavoured to make NetAssess International accessible using only a keyboard. If you discover an area which is difficult to navigate using a keyboard, please let us know. You can navigate around NetAssess International using the standard keyboard functions available on most browsers:
- Use the "Tab" key to move between links and form fields
- Press the "Return" key to follow links or submit a form when they are selected
- Press the "Space" bar to fill in a checkbox
- Use the "arrow" or “cursor” keys to move through drop-down menus and radio buttons
NetAssess International and people with disabilities
NetAssess International has been designed to follow best practice in the testing of people with disabilities:
- Microsoft and other standard packages are used to distribute questionnaires to respondents and as the testing application. Therefore, standard Microsoft and other accessibility features should integrate without any problems.
- The test applications use clear, large, sans-serif fonts against a light background
- There are no aural cues
- Scroll bars and other features requiring fine motor skills have been kept to a minimum
However, those with severe visual disabilities will find any on-screen system difficult or impossible to use. In these circumstances, consult the respondent, who has more experience than you of working with their disability. You may wish to consider paper-based administration or asking a helper to read out questions.
Contacting PAN about accessibility issues
If you encounter any accessibility issues whilst using NetAssess International, please contact our Customer Service department team, who will be able to help you further. We welcome feedback, which is used to determine future changes to implement on the system.
